Quite a number of people are of the opinion that it is possible to say many things about the cultural background and character of a person from the way they dress. While this perspective is held by some groups of people, I firmly disagree with this view. This is because of the increase in the rate of globalization and deceptive dressing.
Firstly, the rate of globalization has significantly increased. This is because people tend to imitate the dressing style of those who colonized them. For example, there has been an increase in the importation of foreign wears over the years. As a result, people prefer to wear foreign clothes like jeans and shirts, rather than wearing their native dress.
Furthermore, in recent times, dressing deceptively has become a thing. This means that people no longer dress in a way that portray their true personality. For instance, a fraudster can be dressed in a suit to look like a representative of a financial institution in order to defraud a client who is looking for an investment opportunity. Therefore, it is advisable for people to take caution when believing what a person says just from the perception of how they were dressed.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree that a person’s cultural background and behaviour can be determined from the style of their dress due to the increased rate of globalization and deceptive dressing.
