From my perspective, this trend provides more benefits than drawbacks, and this essay will elaborate on my view.
On the one hand, working or traveling for a short time offers many valuable opportunities to broaden horizons and gain beneficial experiences for students. Through traveling, they can be able to explore the world to broaden their horizons and increase their knowledge. They can come into contact with different cultures, such as India’s cuisine and China’s customs. Besides, individuals can discover what they want to do with their lives while doing short-term work, avoiding choosing the wrong major in the future. For example, if people work as waiters, they will find a passion for service. Additionally, students may be exposed to real-life experiences, which contribute to their future employment opportunities. They can gain hands-on experience, which can not be taught in schools, enhancing personal development. For instance, learners participating in educational projects might improve their soft skills, including communication and problem-solving.
On the other hand, this trend offers many benefits, while it places pressure on students. Individuals who choose to travel or work can suffer from a financial burden because traveling is expensive, and they may gain nothing from their trips. They have to cover journey expenses, such as accommodation, plane tickets, etc. Alternatively, it is difficult for students having already earned money to continue their studies, so they may get distracted from pursuing their studies at school. As a result, they can have poor academic performance.
In conclusion, although this trend causes financial burden and study distraction, it also brings many benefits, such as valuable experiences and career opportunities for students’ personal development.
