The bar tables compare the number of international students studying in Canada and the USA from three several countries of origin(China, the USA/Canada and India)between 2002 and 2003.
Overall, both Canada and the US saw an increase in their total number of international students. However , Canada experianced a much more rapid growth rate compared to the US. While China was the largest contributor of students to Canada, the highest number of students in the US came from other unspecified countries
Looking first at Canada, the total number of foreign students rose by 17%, movinf from 5400 to 7850, making them the largest group. Similarly, the number of indian sudents increased significantly by 35% to rech2835, while student coming from the USA grew moore modestly by 9% to 5450.
Turning to the United States, overall sudent number increased by just 2%, reaching 592230 in 2003. interestingly, the number of canadian students studying in USA actually decreased by 9%, dropping from 200000 to 182000. In contrast, student numbers from China and Inia both saw single digit growht, rising by 6%(to116600)and 7%(to33170) respetively.
