Since technological developments create easier ways to detect and prevent from committing crimes, many people believe that the number of criminals will decrease. I absolutely agree with this phenomenon because technology creates more obstacles for lawbreakers to break the laws and improves the cybersecurity, making it difficult for hackers to commit crimes.
One reason for that opinion is that technological advancements, such as increasing the number of cameras, prevent criminals from doing bad things, which include stealing money and injuring someone. When criminals are aiming to hurt some individuals, they first look around, ensuring that there are no cameras. For this reason, if more cameras are implemented in such places, it will be really difficult for lawbreakers to commit crimes because they know that such technologies can easily detect them. For example, the number of criminals in USA regions, especially in New York, is significantly less noticed than in other countries’ areas because a lot of cameras are implemented there. Hence, the reason why advances in technology prevent crimes is the unwillingness of lawbreakers to commit crimes.
Another important reason why crime rates may decrease is the improvement in cybersecurity systems, which makes it harder for hackers to perform illegal activities online. In the modern world, many crimes are committed through the internet, such as stealing personal data or accessing bank accounts. However, with the development of advanced security technologies, including strong encryption and authentication methods, it becomes more challenging for cybercriminals to succeed. For instance, many companies now use two-step verification and other protective measures to secure users’ information. As a result, hackers are less likely to break into systems because they face higher risks of being detected and punished. Therefore, technological progress in cybersecurity plays a crucial role in reducing online crimes.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that crime rates will fall due to technological advancements. This is because modern technologies not only discourage criminals through surveillance systems but also protect digital information from cyber threats. As technology continues to develop, it is likely that both physical and online crimes will become even more difficult to commit.
