The figure depicts the number of men and women in further education in Britain in three periods and whether they were studying full-time or part-time.
Overall, most learners in Britain chose to study part-time rather than full-time. However, trend of full-time education had increased continuously during the period both male and female. Furthermore, part-time education trend in females also continuously raised but fluctuated in males.
In 1970, both full-time and part-time education in men were much more than females. By contrast, in 1980, full-time education in women rose to about 250 which was higher than men, whereas part-time education also rose but not as much as men. Eventually, in 1990, part-time education’s popularity in females peaked about 1100 which was a lot higher than males. On the other hand, full-time education was equally chosen by both males and females, showing a steady rise in participation and increasing interest in higher education overall.
