In today’s world, where parents spend more time at work than with their offspring, youth social problems are increasing, and I agree with this statement as it draws them back from their studies and causes mental problems.
Firstly, in this contemporary world, parents rarely realise that when they lose track of time at work, they come home late. Consequently, they are unable to spend quality time with their kids. So, youth seek entertainment on mobile screens or watch programmes on televisions, which ultimately takes them away from their studies. For instance, a survey conducted by the Delhi Public School in India found that children whose parents work and do not spend time with their kids are not performing well in their studies.
Secondly, teenagers whose lives are spent in virtual worlds gradually start developing mental problems, and the consequences could lead them to become drug addicts. Moreover, youths can take unexpected steps that leave parents with regret for the rest of their lives, knowing that if they had spent time with their offspring, they would not have taken drastic steps. For example, in India last year, police reports showed that around 60% of teenagers committed suicide just because of loneliness.
In conclusion, parents have to give time to their children as importantly as they give to their work; otherwise, because of loneliness, perhaps they would choose television or the internet, which at last moves them away from studies and puts them in depression or mental problems, which could lead them to a very insecure future.
