The line graph compares the populations of three countries (A, B and C) between 2000 and 2020, with figures given in millions.
Overall, Country A experienced a steady and substantial increase in population, overtaking Country B around 2010 to become the most populous nation by the end of the period. In contrast, Country B remained relatively stable despite minor fluctuations, whereas Country C rose slightly at first before declining steadily to finish with the smallest population.
At the beginning of the period, Country B had the largest population at approximately 75 million, followed by Country A at just over 50 million. Country A’s population then grew consistently, reaching around 61 million in 2005 and approximately 68 million by 2010, when it matched Country B. Thereafter, it continued to rise sharply, climbing to about 77 million in the following period before reaching nearly 96 million in 2020.
By comparison, Country B’s population fell gradually from roughly 75 million in 2000 to around 68 million in 2010. However, this downward trend was reversed over the following decade, with the figure increasing modestly to approximately 73 million by the end of the period.
Country C followed a markedly different pattern. Its population increased slightly from about 48 million in 2000 to a peak of around 55 million in 2010. After that, it declined steadily, falling to roughly 51 million before dropping further to about 45 million in 2020, making it the least populous of the three countries.
