The line graph illustrates data about percentage of Japan’s inhabitants in three age groups in 1960 and predictions for 2040.
Overall, the precentage of the youngest age group projected that gradually decline. In contrast, the proportion of elderly people increases steadily and is expected to continue rising, while share of adults headed the list, despite slightly decrease.
In 1960, peopleaged 25-64 was top of the list with around 70%. However in 2010, this age of group noticeably drop about 60 percent. In contrast, it is estimated that adults will be ranked in first place despite slight a fall.
Regarding the other two groups, as for the children aged 0-14, despite rising steeply from 30 to nearly 35 between 1960 and 1970, it is estimated that the number of children will decline to 10 percent over the period. While in 1960, the least popular age group was elderly people with around 5%. However, in 2010 it dramatically grow around 30%, therefore it is expected that this age group keep rising about 40 percentage in 2040.
