There is an ongoing debate about whether children’s behavior is more significantly influenced by the content they consume or the amount of time they spend in front of television. I firmly believe that devoting most of their time for TV is much more dangerous for children’s behavior, such as addiction and isolation.
Admittedly, there are several advantages content that children watch. One immediate and possible benefit is that it would make them environmentally friendly. That is, nowadays, there are different
TV shows and programs which demonstrate useful information about space or environment. As a result, not only they enjoy watching interesting facts, but also these encourage them to protect environment. Additionally, these kinds of contents teach children on counting or learn some words in other language before they go to school. Furthermore, there are several shows which show children the value of friendship and how to communicate with others. Consequently, they become more friendly and sociable. However, from a health standpoint, this phenomenon bring children fear and anxiety. For instance, some scary or disturbing contents can cause nightmares and stress.
On the other hand, as some majority support the idea that spending to much time affects children’s behavior. Firstly, excessive television viewing may cause reduced eyesight. Thus, this may be harmful even for their future, because they should wear glasses. Secondly, this trend can make children addicted. Therefore, it would be hard fro parents to distance their kids from watching TV over time, as well as they may do not want to go out to play with friends and become more isolated from peers. Third, in terms of education, if TV shows hook kids in, they do prefer watching contents rather than studying. Finally, it is clear that, sometimes watching TV can be waste of time that kids should do more outdoor activities for their physical and for enjoyment in their childhood.
In conclusion, while some individuals argue that types of content affect kid’s behavior, I presumably believe that the time they spend on television has much more effect on them.
