Band 8+: Traditional music is becoming extinct among young generation. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Traditional music is an important part of a country’s culture and history. However, it is becoming less popular among young people in many countries. I partly agree that traditional music is at risk of disappearing, mainly because young people are more interested in modern forms of entertainment.

One main reason for this trend is the influence of modern music. Young people can easily listen to pop, hip-hop and other international genres through social media and streaming platforms. These types of music are often more attractive to teenagers because they are regularly promoted by famous artists and influencers. As a result, traditional music may seem old-fashioned or less interesting to younger generations. Another reason is that many young people do not have enough opportunities to learn about their traditional music at school or at home.

However, I do not believe that traditional music will completely disappear. Governments and educational institutions can play an important role in preserving it. For example, schools could organise traditional music performances and teach students about local musical instruments and songs. In addition, social media could be used to introduce traditional music in a more modern and interesting way. Young musicians could also combine traditional sounds with modern styles, making this type of music more appealing to teenagers.

In conclusion, although traditional music is becoming less popular among young people because of modern entertainment, I disagree that it will necessarily become extinct. With support from schools, governments and young musicians, traditional music can be preserved for future generations.
