Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 8+: question:As transport and accommodation problems are increasing in many cities, some governments are encouraging businesses to move to rural areas. Do you think the advantages outweigh disadvantages?

As transport and accommodation problems are becoming more serious in many cities, some people believe that governments should encourage businesses to move to rural areas. While this policy could solve some problems in large cities, I believe that it may cause greater difficulties in rural communities in the long term.

On the one hand, relocating businesses to rural areas can bring several practical benefits. Firstly, moving workplaces away from major cities could reduce the number of commuters and new residents coming into urban areas every day. This would put less pressure on public transport and roads, while also reducing the demand for accommodation. As a result, problems such as traffic jams and a lack of affordable housing could become less serious. Secondly, rural areas usually have cheaper land and property prices than cities. Therefore, businesses could save money on offices, factories and other operating costs. This could help companies reduce their expenses and improve their profits.

On the other hand, I consider that moving a large number of businesses to rural areas could create serious long-term problems. If many companies move there, a large number of workers may also follow them. This could put pressure on local infrastructure and resources, which are often less developed than those in cities. For example, increased traffic and higher demand for housing could cause rental prices to rise, making life more difficult for local residents. Moreover, the construction of factories, offices and other facilities could damage the natural environment. More construction and transportation would also lead to environmental degradation- sự suy thoái. Therefore, the negative effects on rural communities and the environment may outweigh the temporary benefits for cities and businesses.

In conclusion, relocating businesses to rural areas could reduce congestion and accommodation pressure in cities and lower business costs. However, it may also put pressure on rural infrastructure and cause environmental damage. In my opinion, governments should not strongly encourage businesses to move to rural areas, but should instead find other ways to solve urban transport and housing problems
