The bar chart below illustrates how many males and females and four different age categories watched two types of TV shows in Australia. Overall, it is clear that reality shows are watched by almost the same number of people in the four age categories, while game show viewers differ in terms of age groups. The same number of men and women watch game shows, and more women watch reality shows.
Game shows are watched by almost the identical percentage of men and women, 62 and 60 percent, respectively. In contrast, the number of women who watch reality shows reached almost 70 percent, doubling the percentage of male viewers.
The percentages of reality show viewers in the age categories fluctuated from 52 percent to 68 percent. The number of viewers grew exponentially with the age of the program watcher. On the other hand, the number of game show watchers in the age group from 16 to 24 is 50 percent, while the age groups 25–34 and 35–44 are both less than 45 percent of game show spectators, 38 and 41 percent, respectively. The biggest group of game show viewers is in the 45-year-old and older age group, with 70 percent.
