Nowadays, it’s true that there is a growing trend that people communicate through technology more often, losing the abilty to talk in person. While some people tend toward the viewpoint that technology only brings us benefits, I would have to agree with the the statement that there are also drawbacks.
First of all, it’s understandable for some people to belive that chatting with others by using cellphones and computers doesn’t affect our ways of talking to each other face to face. One of the main reasons can be we just turn our words into messages, instead of directly speaking out. Through this pattern, it only brings us convenience, and it’s similar to writing letters in the past.
On the other hand, it’s more convincing to me that communicating online does decrease our ability to talk to each other face to face. Firstly, talking to a person face to face involves either body language or face expression, and we can see their reactions. In this way, we get to know their thoughts, rather they are angry or feeling delighted toward my words. Personally, I had an experience relating to this issue. Once I was studying so hard that I even stayed at home for a whole month, after taking the exam, I lost my ability to interact with my classmates. I didn’t know how to express my emotion to them. In other words, with lack of real interaction in daily lives, poor ability to communicate in person will definitely occurs.
In conclusion, although technology plays a crucial role in our daily lives, it seems to me that we shouldn’t overlook the significance of face-to-face interactions. Do not let the technology development becomes tragedy as well as lowering human’s basic ability.
