The table shows the percentages of household income spent on four various categories per month in five European countries. Overall, it can be clearly seen that all five countries spend their income primarily on food and drink and housing, whereas the money spent on clothing and entertainment was less in these countries.
To begin with, the table indicates that housing has the largest proportion of household expenditure factor in the UK, Germany, and France, at 37%, 33% and 31%, respectively. However, they spend approximately a quarter on food and drink. In addition, Turkey and Spain spend their income mostly on food and drink around a third, while they allocate roughly a fifth of their income on housing.
On the other hand, France and Spain spend a relatively low amount of their income on clothing, constituting 7% and 8% of their respective expenditures. Likewise, the other three countries, including Germany, Turkey and the UK, spend around the same amount, ranging between 11% and 15%. Furthermore, entertainment expenses are notably higher in Germany, standing at 19%, whereas the UK spend the smallest percentage, at 11%.
