The line graph compares the average attendance at top-level football matches in Italy, England, and Germany over a 24-year period, commencing from 1980.
In general, it is clear that Germany experienced a significant rise; Italy showed a decline by the end of the span; England fluctuated but ultimately increased.
Upon a closer look at attendance rates, Italy had the highest attendance, averaging approximately 35,000 spectators per match, followed by Germany at about 30,000, while England fell behind with over 21,000. However, by 1986, attendance in Italy had declined slightly to 35,000. Italy’s attendance decreased to around 30,000, while England’s attendance decreased moderately by the end of the period.
Turning to the remaining data, Germany saw a substantial increase in attendance from 1986 onwards; of particular note is that Germany, by the early 1980s, reached a peak of approximately 36,000. England began to increase after a low point, reaching a peak in 2004 of approximately 30,000. In contrast, Germany’s attendance gradually increased to above 33,000 in the same year.
