The two pictures illustrate the situation of industrial places in the city of Norbiton, while also projecting the future state of the area. As can be seen from the pictures, there is significant transformation regarding the buildings, especially for demolishing factories into new houses. Moreover, additional construction for public facilities were created to support daily activities.
At the beginning, Norbiton city was characterized by an industrial zone, where eight factories surrounded the road near the town. However, in the upcoming years, all of the companies were destroyed and replaced with new homes. Furthermore, new residential areas connected by the circular road across the river will divide the farmland into two sections.
On the other hand, essential facilities for education such as school and kindergarten were constructed in the east side of the city. These buildings will be placed near people’s houses. Furthermore, an extra circular road will be placed in the southern area to make the medical centre and shop accessible for everyone. These changes indicate a shift from industrial to residential and community-focused urban planning.
