Both graphs show New Zealand’s import figures (y-axis) over a ten year period (x-axis). The top one represents import goods from Australia and the bottom one represents import goods from Japan. Overall, New Zealand imports more from Australia than from Japan, always having import values above 3000 million dollars. Both graphs show some variation along the years.
When analysing imports from Australia, it is possible to observe that there was a peak around 2004, with 8000 million dollars import figures. The year that had less imports is 1999. In general, New Zealand’s imports from Australia seemed to be increasing.
Regarding imports from Japan, there was peak at around 1997, with a little over 6000 million dollars. The lowest import values were obtained in 2004. Since 2000, imports from Japan steadily decreased.
In summary, New Zealand imports from Japan and Australia fluctuated throughout the years. However, there seems to be a trend where imports from Australia were increasing and the ones from Japan were decreasing. Over the ten years period, New Zealand always had a preference for Australia import goods.
