In different parts of the world, there are full-day sports programs on television. Some parts of the population believe that the younger generation is turning away from sports and doesn’t want to become athletes because of television programs. In my opinion, watching sports on television can encourage the younger generation to start playing sports, and if there are drawbacks, they will affect the entire population, not just the younger ones.
Nowadays, teenagers have different idols who are famous footballers, tennis players, swimmers, and so on. Moreover, those who spend time watching sports can motivate themselves to become athletes and cultivate the patience needed for starting an active lifestyle. For example, in recent years, the Garabag football team has become increasingly popular, experiencing a significant increase in fans. These fans also start playing amateur football matches, which promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. The second positive effect of this situation is that various football clubs have been established and are teaching the younger generation how to become good football players.
However, some people who think that the continuous coverage of sports on television has negative effects on the young generation, ignore the potential effects on the older generation. It is clear that overwatching television can have different unwanted effects that affect the entire population. Spending many hours in front of the television can lead to a kind of addiction that results in both mental and physical problems. For instance, research shows that an inactive lifestyle can lead to diabetes, depression, and other conditions. Therefore, people should balance active and passive hours in their daily routines, sometimes choosing to participate in sports instead of watching them on television.
In conclusion, 24-hour sports coverage on television has both positive and negative effects on the younger generation, and it is important to find a balance.
