Band 6+: The first impression you have of a person is the best way to judge a person do you agree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

they say that the best way to judge a person is by the first impression that they cast on others, while others may agree with this statement, but I disagree with the very notion for the reasons that the essay will expatiate on in the following paragraphs.

Firstly, it is a fact backed up by psychology that we don’t live in the objective world, rather everyone of us is living in the subjective world of their own based on the myriads of the experiences one has been subjected to the entire lifespan. Hence, people filter every information thorough this and judge the outer world. Therefore, it gives one out of a whole slew of the reasons to not to judge a person based on just a single encounter. For example, a woman who has just moved in next door to your home, wasn’t that friendly to reciprocate the greetings, it could be that she was tired of the shifting and traveling.

Moreover, people tend to fake personalities to accomplish their personal gains. Hence, it makes a daunting task to see through the people and get to know their reality. For example, strangers meeting for the first may knowing that they have to impress the person in front of them, who could be their potential life partner, would go out of the way to look, and sound kind, compassionate and courteous. While the reality may be opposite in fact. Thus the first impression may not serve as a good yardstick for the personality judgement.

To sum up, while it could be a good idea to ascertain the different personalities in a blink- the first impression, but subjectivity and the human tendency to manipulate the situations favor in the disagreement of the notion.
