Overall, the foreign language which English university students mostly able to speak is Spanish, and the charts show an increasing number of those who speak more than one language.
In 2000, 20% of the British university students population were inept to speak any other language except English, while the portion of monolingual dropped to only 10% by the time in 2010. Students who were able to speak French, German and another language take acount for 40% of the entire community in 2000, which stayed same percentage of the group in 2010. Meanwhile, 5% more students learned how to speak Spanish during the decade, which reach to 35% of the British university students, and made it remain the biggest portion of the population of language learning students. At the same time, there were another 5% gained the ability to speak two other foreign languages.
