Overall, all cities experienced an upward trend in internet level with Melbourne which increased almost threefold. While Sydney had the best internet connection, broadband was the most preferred type.
To begin, Sydney had the fastest internet with speeds of about 13 and 14 mbps in both 2005 and 2015 respectively. As for Melbourne, there was significant growth, reaching about 6 Mbps. In Perth, there was also a slight increase in internet speed. Meanwhile, internet connection speed in Adelaide and Brisbane increased marginally over the period.
Turning to internet types, Broadband was the most used comprising more than half of the total, and this was followed by mobile internet comprising just over one-third. In contrast, only 1.48% of people had a dial-up type and, only around 1% of people didn’t use the internet.
