The following charts give data on the speed of network connection in five different Australian cities in megabytes per second in 2005 and 2015, and the type of connection people used in 2010.
Overall, it is clear that all network types showed an upward trend with Sydney having the fastest one in both years, and that of Melbourne growing dramatically. As regards connection types, people used broadband one the most.
In Sydney, speed of network was far higher than in any other city, making up around 13 MBPS and 14 MBPS in 2005 and 2015 respectively. With regard to other regions, that of Melbourne witnessed an increase by a factor of 3, from 2 MBPS in 2005 to almost 6 MBPS at the end of the period. Internet connection speed of other cities overall saw a moderate growth.
Turning to the types of network connection, broadband one accounted for nearly three-fifths of connectivity, which is approximately twice as much as that of mobile connection. As for dial up connection, it made up a tiny proportion of 1.48%. Only below 1% of any internet access was not used by Australian people.
