Studying in foreign countries is becoming a trend of 21th century. A plethora of students are choosing to study overseas as stated by the advantages that can be gained through it. While others are divided on this topic. Studying abroad possesses both advantages and disadvantages. In this essay both sides will be discussed and supported by specific reasons.
On one hand, studying abroad has many merits. First of all, foreign countries such as Italy, French, Germany, Japan and South Korea provide exchange students with high amount of scholarships as well as great level of education. These kind of countries use special, specific and modernized methods to educate their students such as prominent computer programs, modernized AI tools and universities in these areas employ professionals who are expert in their fields. Secondly, if students go to overseas to study they will be accountant to themselves and they will take all the responsibilities such as paying bills and taxes or finding accomodations. These help them to become more independent and mature. Furthermore, travelling overseas whether studying or working broadens students horizon as it creates an opportunity to become familiar with different cultures,customs and traditions.
On the other hand, studying abroad possesses valid demerits. To start with, language barrier can be a huge problem. If students are not fluent in the foreign language they will have problems with asking for directions, shopping, finding accomodations and studying at university. Additionally living alone in an unfamiliar culture can trigger homesickness. Students may not be able to speak about their problems or ask for a help since they do not have any acquaintances. Moreover, financial problems that can lead a student to study and to work at a time,can arise from costly expenses of living abroad. These result in depression, exhaustion and loneliness.
To finalize, studying abroad has many perks including high scholarships and higher education level consisting of up-to-date methods, having a chance to become independent and becoming familiar with new traditions. However, studying overseas possesses many downsides such as language problems, unfamiliar culture which generates homesickness and high expenses that make students overwork.In addition, if students are well prepared to overcome challenges they can obtain many great opportunities from studying abroad.
