The rock cycle diagram provided demonstrates step by step how rocks are formed and broken down. Overall, it is a cycle involve geographic event inside surface of the earth.
To begin with, erosion phenomenon converts rocks from the top of the mountain into sand and stones. The sand and stones from the mountain glides into the deep sea, forming a sediment like material. It is buried under the earth and called sedimentary rock. This sedimentary rock changes into metamorphic rock because of high pressure and temperature change. While metamorphic rocks’ temperature keeps rising, it changes its structural behaviour from solid to semi liquid and forms into magma.
Finally, Magma from inside of earth has a high temperature which needs to be cooled down by releasing its pressure. Afterward, lava exposes to the surface and cools rapidly forming igneous rock. This igneous rock gathers with excess from metamorphic rock and sedimentary rock and rise back into the surface, creating a top layer on the surface. And these rocks will undergo the same cycle as before, that is why it is called the Rock cycle.
