The presented line graph illustrates the various types of crimes and their changes from the year 2003 to 2012 in Newport city center.
Overall, the crime rate for burglary has decreased from the early years until 2008. Car theft holds the second position, while robbery has the lowest recorded cases, never exceeding 1,000 incidents throughout the entire period.
To begin with, burglary recorded approximately 3,400 cases in 2003, and the following year it rose to 3,700. However, there was a significant decline to 1,200 cases in 2008, after which the numbers rose and then stabilized until the end of the period. In contrast, car theft cases remained unchanged during the first three years; then, they fell to 2,000 in 2006. Nevertheless, they rebounded to their original level of 2,700 by the end of the period.
On the other hand, robbery recorded the least instances, staying below 1,000 cases for all the years. It started with 700 cases, saw a slight decrease in 2008, and then remained consistent with the burglary rates in the last few years.
