One the past decade, there has been growing public interest in the perennial debate surrounding living far from family by going to university. While this tendency offers certain advantages, some disadvantages also emerge. After examining arguments on all sides of this matter, this essay eventually comes to the conclusion that the losses are eclipsed by the gains.

One of the primary reasons why many students prefer attending university instead of live with their family is independence and autonomy , maybe in finance, life or private life and also their academic success. Living far from family home freed students from the constraints and pressures of familial expectations and they can finally have their private life with no longer under surveillance. Furthermore, living away from family can completely removed distractions related family matter, allow students focus on their study. As a result, they could better achieve academic success and accumulate life experiences from challenges.

Notwithstanding the aforementioned advantages, there are several drawbacks associated with the choice of living away from home while studying at a university that cannot be overlooked. Moving to another place not only serves the purpose of studying, but also lead to some cases are out of control, for instance, students will be lazy and excessive freedom in somethings like: indulge in debauchery and learn bad things. Futhermore, separated from the safety net of parental support, students are forced to shoulder everything on their own, finances in particular and life in general, make them confused and anxioused with life’s challenges infront.

All things considered, the benefits of independent living instead of staying with family should be seen in light of a few substantial problems. While it allows for independent life in the future, some still feel that people should mindful of its downsides, notably indulging in debauchery of students. On balance, the gain ultimately outweight the losses, making it a positive development.
