People are having a hard time reaching consensus on whether students should focus on more practical subjects or they should give importance to theoretical subjects. In my opinion, I would prefer focus more on practical subjects rather than theoretical courses.
There is no doubt that the demand of practical skills is increasing day by day. For one thing, present job markets are fully based on technology. We can’t think beyond technology. As a matter of that, people have to know how to deal with technology. They are bounded to seek efficient output from technology. Not only practical knowledge helps people to develop their personal traits but also builds the backbone to fight and stay in a competitive corporative world. For another, it makes people mind sharp and creative. Undeniably, people having more practical knowledge can think more broadly and uniquely as compared to those having a bunch of theoretical ideas.
On the other hand, some people concerned theories play vital role in students’ life. According to them, new ideas can’t be generated without proper theoretical knowledge. Additionally, they believe theory shows the right direction in every sector of social and professional life. Moreover, it acts as a template in terms of making decisions. Although theories give us basics ideas of a particular factor, it limits the thinking ability of a person. People can’t generate innovative ideas because they become more reliable on existing theories. However, blueprints of exclusive theories can be developed using technical knowledge. For example, artificial intelligence brings the world in such positions that we dreamt before. Its’ most of the algorithms doesn’t follow any kind of theories. It is unbelievable to think that, almost all of the algorithms are built though practical experiments.
In conclusion, Students can get lot of merits including job opportunities, sharp decision-making ability and innovative approach by learning more practical courses, whereas theoretical dependency limited their mental capacity. Therefore, I give more importance to learn more practical courses.
