The bar chart gives information about the proportion of Internet used regularly by five distinct age groups in the UK between 2003 and 2006.
Overall, all of the age groups experienced an upward trend over the course of a four-year period from 2003 to 2006. While the 16–24, 55–64, and 65+ categories witnessed increases with some fluctuations, the other two groups saw a gradual rise.
The use of the Internet among 16–24-year-old adults was the highest regardless of the time. In 2003, the figure for Internet users among 16–24 adults stood at 80% and was unchanged for the next year. Subsequently, it significantly increased from 80% in 2004 to 100% in 2005, before slightly decreasing to 90% in 2006.
For individuals aged 25–44 and 45–54, there was a consistent increase from 50% to 80% and 60% to 80%, respectively, between 2003 and 2006. However, the other two categories of people rose with some fluctuations, but the overall trend was upward. Moreover, the oldest age group had the smallest proportion of people who used the Internet during the 4-year period.
