While formal education equips children with academic knowledge, the cultivating of good behavior is equally imperative. Although such a school of thought is valid within the educational and societal contexts, I believe the parents ought to involve themselves in the process and this essay will provide evidence that supports my viewpoint.
On the one hand, learning institutions have a great opportunity to shape children’s behavior which cannot be separated from study performance. As a matter of fact, with pedagogical background teachers who have teaching methods could impart both subject expertise and instilling values like responsibility, perseverance and discipline. These virtues, not only does it put children in an ethical norm, but also help students sustain focus and be able to handle pressure to progress further in their studies. Besides, being surrounded by peers is a great environment for children to interact with others, developing a number of good traits through teachers guidance. Through collaborative activities, group discussion, pupils learn to respect, kindness and empathy which help cultivate a well – rounded individual beside a person with academic excellence.
On the other hand, it is also justifiable why parents are deemed equally good teachers for shaping good attributes. To be more specific, the teaching at school might be on the surface level as the teachers, by law, are not able to involve too deeply in the correction of behavior, such as imposing punishment, therefore parents might be better suited in making this kind of education effective. Moreover, good behaviors can be greatly reinforced at home because most children tend to imitate their family members. This is why parents can be a good role model for their kids to follow by behaving decently such as politely, prestige in order to set a good example to their offspring.
In conclusion, I maintain that school should instill positive conduct in pupils as well as offer formal education, however, parental roles in this regard are also significant. This harmonious partnership between schools and families is imperative in nurturing individuals with both knowledge and virtuous conduct.
