Music indisputably plays a crucial role in catering to people’s musical taste, which enables the audience to unwind and find the inner peace in the melody. Along with the prevalence of International music, some specific types of traditional genres maintain long-lasting value and become the inspiration for many talented composers.
As far as I’m concerned, there is a wide range of factors accounting for the attachment of music in people’s lives. The most noticeable, I believe, is that aiming at the satisfaction and connection while the audience turns on their favorite tunes. A good piece of music not only delivers a melodic rhythm or lyric itself, but also contains stories which evoke deep empathy between composers and listeners. Music serves as a vital part for alleviating anxiety and stress, offering a mental therapy after a demanding day. This is particularly true that many well-known songs often create a deep empathy in a target audience and contribute to the connection of the audience worldwide. Furthermore, the diverse types of music illustrate the development and official recognition of the underground artists. In the past, rap or hip hop were regarded as low-key and were underrated compared to the mainstream music. However, the success of underground artists in recent years has left a mark in the music landscape. This, in turn, provides more choices for listeners to add to their playlists.
Moreover, I would not agree with the notion that traditional music is less important than the International music in this day. Even though conventional entertainment genres are possibly harder to attract the public’s attention, the artistic and historical value of these artworks has contributed to the historical depth of a nation’s culture. More importantly, many traditional artworks have been renewed and performed on the large-scale stage, which brings unique art forms closer to the younger generation. In Vietnam, some types of traditional music, such as “cheo”, “tuong”, have become the inspiration for many famous artists to utilize the characteristic value in their musical products. To maintain the long-lasting value of traditional music, more and more potential artists are encouraged to learn and develop their understanding and passion for these types of music.
