Band 5+: Society is based on rules and laws. If individuals were free to do whatever they want to do, it could not function. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the above statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There are various rules and regulations placed in the most of societies. These are essential to ensure smooth functioning of societies, otherwise the society may not able to function. I completely agree with this notion, as I believe that rules and laws are the basic pillars of the society.

Firstly, it is hard to say that the every human being will be kind to each other and do only good things to the society. It is worth noting that their behavior may change according to the situation. For instance, everyone born in this world was good at birth; however the situation and the environment decide their future prospective. If you look at the history of most serial killers, there will be some hard situation or thing happened to them at the young age that led them to become as serial killer. Therefore, as there is no standard nature of human being, there should be laws and restrictions to keep an eye on these issues.

If everyone is allowed to do whatever they wish, some people may show their dominance over others. For example, as there is no control over the behavior, people may tend to do whatever they think of. They may attack others by showing their dominance. If there is a situation where the dominant people deprived of food or money, they may attack others to get those.

In conclusion, if we let individuals to do whatever they want, it will destroy the society, as there is no control over dominant people and there is no standard nature of human behavior.
