The table demonstrates the data about the expenditures of consumers on three distinct items in five countries (Ireland, Italy,Spain, Sweden, Turkey) in 2002.
Overall, it is clear that the most consumerism was in food/drinks/tobacco in all nations compared to other items, while expenditures on leisure/education were less than the other two categories in 2002.
As it is given, expenditures on food/drinks/tobacco were the highest in Turkey (32.14%) among the other countries, with Ireland taking the second place with 28.91%. Meanwhile, Swedes spent only 15.77% for the same item, which was the lowest.
Concerning clothing/footwear, Italy (9%) spent more than the other four countries. Moreover, the data in Turkey, Ireland, and Spain was relatively similar, at 6.63%, 6.43%, and 6.51%, respectively. Only Sweden’s figure was the lowest, at 5.40%.
On the other hand, for leisure/education, Turkey spent more again compared to others, at 4.35%, whereas the expenses for Italy and Sweden were almost similar, at 3.20% and 3.22% respectively. However, in Spain, it was only 1.98%, which was one of the smallest fractions of expenditures overall.
