21 countries, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain saw an increase from 1998 to 2007. Spain had the largest increase across the five countries, from 8.3% in 1998 to 9.0% in 2007. Additionally, the 21 countries and France were the second group based on the rising of population with more than 3%, and Italy and the UK witnessed a modest increase.
The remainder of the countries, Germany and Poland, experienced a decrease between 1998 and 2007. Germany had a more significant decline than Poland, from 17.1% in 1998 to 16.6% in 2007. Poland followed the same trend with a slight decrease, its population fell to 7.7% in 2007.
