I want to share a particular experience from my time as a student, which was heightened by the pressure of a looming deadline. This incident occurred when I was nearing the deadline for a complex practical assignment for my degree. The deadline was imminent, and I was aware that my submission was just minutes away. Unfortunately, I encountered a significant problem despite my efforts. The program I was attempting to run was refusing to work, even after I enabled the debugging tools. I could feel my heart racing and a knot forming in my stomach, fueled by the fear that my submission would impact my final grades. The relentless ticking of the countdown only intensified my anxiety, making it challenging to think clearly. In that moment of crisis, I realized I needed to regain control over my emotions. I consciously forced myself to stop glancing at the clock and took a few deep breaths to center myself. By breaking the problem down into manageable steps rather than succumbing to a frantic rush, I was able to approach it methodically. I focused solely on organizing my thoughts and making use of the digital tools available to me, which allowed me to submit everything correctly. Reflecting on that experience, I learned several important lessons. I recognized that procrastination often leads to excessive stress. More importantly, I learned that panic is not a beneficial response to pressure. A calm and clear mind can achieve solutions far more effectively, and I came to understand that in moments of intense stress, a measured approach can resolve problems in minutes that panic could not solve in hours.
