I believe that our definition of success has changed throughout the generations based on what we are striving to achieve as a whole in our society. For example, in previous generations, I feel as though most people aimed for mere survival. Of course, there are instances of very wealthy people who made it to the top 1%. But overall, a decent job is all they really hoped for, to feed themselves and find shelter. Now, since survival isn't necessarily a common struggle in our contemporary era anymore, it's more likely that we would chase after wealth and joy in terms of success. So career goals have shifted to things that people really enjoy, but also make a lot of money, like content creation, artistic endeavors, things like that.
