The bar graph illustrates the changes in population of the five largest cities in the world (Tokyo, New York, Shanghai, Bombay and Jakarta) in 1970,1990 and 2010.

Overall, the population in all five cities rose throughout the period, with 2010 having the greatest population in general. Bombay experienced the most significant incline in population, while New York had the least fluctuations over the years.

Tokyo was the most populated city throughout the whole period, with a population just above 27 million in 1990, opposing to Jakarta which remained the least populated in all years. Bombay experienced the greatest change, increasing by more than 20 million. On the other hand, New york showed the least change, increasing by only around 2 million. Shanghai and New York showed similar patterns from 1970 to 1990, until 2010 when Shanghai’s population inclined to just above 20 million.
