Overall, this country saw fluctuating decreases in the average time spent by four different brands during the period. In addition, General Motors tended to reduce their time on producing vehicles the most.
In the year 1998, around 32 hours per vehicle was the time that General Motors spent, compared to around 28 hours, which was the figure for Ford. However, the average time to produce a car in the USA by both Toyota and Honda were much lower and nearly the same, at about 22 hours per vehicle.
During the period between 1998 and 2005, there was dramatic drop by 10 hours spent in the figure for General Motors to around 22 hours. Likewise, Ford tended to spend less time on manufacturing cars, which declined from approximately 28 hours to about 21 hours. The figures for both Toyota and Honda remained relatively constant, standing at about 20 hours.
