Overall, access to mobile phones and internet connections had increased significantly over the period. DVD players had risen rapidly where it almost tripled in contrast to CD players where it rose steadily but saw a decrease at the end of the period.
In 1994/95, CD player was the only modern technology available at just under 50 percent. It grew steadily peaking at approximately 90 percent in 2005/06 before experiencing a slight decrease afterwards. The access to mobile phone and internet connection were later found in 1996/97 and 1998/99 consecutively with access less than doubled from CD player at below 20 percent. The access to mobile phone and internet connection then saw a significant increase over the period with mobile phones almost surpassing the CD player at the end of the period in 2008.
The access to DVD player was found the latest in 2002 and increased dramatically surpassing internet connection in 2003/04 at around 50 percent, mobile phone in 2005/06 at just below 80 percent, and CD player in between 2007 and 2008 at almost 90 percent becoming the most accessed in the United Kingdom.
