The line grap below illustrates the daily consumption of three spreads per person over a 26-year period in a country.
Overall, butter consumption per person, which was the highest figure among the three spreads dramatically declined, whereas the lowest spread “low fat and reduced spreads” rose to more than five times its initial figure. Meanwhile, margarine did not fall behind them and was erratic over the period and eventually declined steadily.
Looking first at butter and margarine, low fat and reduced spreads stood at rougly at 143 per person in 1981,while the figure for low fat and reduced spreads was approximately 10.Meanwhile,butter had the highest figure among the three spreads, but eventually declined gramatically,at 140 grams per person in 1981.It then peaked at exaсtly 160.But,it started declining dramatically between 1986 and 1991 at exactly 100,thereafter butter decreased slowly between 1991 and 2007,finally ended up roughly at 90.
Margarine, meanwhile, started approximately at 95 and slightly fell to 80 in 1986.Margarine followed a more fluctuating trend and was erratic. It soared to 100 in 1991 and leveled off until 1996.Thereafter,declined double times to 40 in 2007.
