Overall, breakfast was the healthiest as the three substances(sodium, saturated fat, added sugar) were rarely ingested. In contract, people consumed them most when having dinner, especially sodium and saturated fat. Sodium and fats were taken more at lunch than eating snacks, except the added sugar whose percentage took a dominate position of snacks.
The proportions of sodium and saturated fat in typical meals were very similar. Dinner accounted for 43% nearly half of sodium, followed by lunch for 29%. Breakfast was the one that is consumed the least for 14% equaled to snacks. Similarly, saturated fat intake for dinner were 37% that was more than one third. Lunch(26%) and snacks(21%) ranked second and third respectively. Breakfast was the thinnest meal with 16% saturated fat.
42% of added sugars were eaten at snacks,which exceeded the total amount of sugar consumed at breakfast(16%) and lunch(19%). In addition, the percentage of saturated sugar digested at dinner were 23%, which ranked number two in American meal.
