The bar chart provides data on the attendance of three different age groups at performing arts events in Canada. It is clear that performance arts events such as popular musical, theatrical, and any concert attracted a significantly larger audience across all age groups compared to the other types of events. Noticeably, individuals aged from 15 to 19 are more likely to attend any professional events.
Regarding the events with higher attendance figures, participation of performing art events decreases as age increases. In detail, almost half of people aged 15 to 19 attended concerts, the highest figure shown, compared with the about 35% of those ages between 35 and 44 and roughly 25% of those aged over 60. Similarly, there is a corresponding decline in attendance at theatrical performances, opera, and popular music events; however, the decrease in attendance at theatrical shows and opera is relatively minor. Opera and dance performances do not attract people aged over 60, just 3%, the smallest proportion recorded.
In contrast, as people become older, they are more likely to take part in symphonic and choral music events. Specifically, around 10% of those aged 60 and over attend classical events, while the figures are only about 6% and 8% of the youngest and middle-aged groups respectively. Participation in choral also follows a similar trend, with people over 60 showing the highest level of interest.
