The chart illustrates the proportion of three different nutrients in the U.S. Overall, dinner accounted for the greatest share in most of the charts. Meanwhile, breakfast represented the least significant portion.
In Sodium, dinner made up 43%, the highest among all meals. By contrast, snacks and breakfast represented only 14%. In Saturated fat, dinner made up 37%, the highest share similarly to Sodium, followed by lunch, snacks, and breakfast. In Added sugar, dinner had the biggest share after snacks. Breakfast and lunch were similar in this category represented in only 16% and 19%.
Overall, the share of dinner stood out in terms of Sodium and Saturated fat. Meanwhile, snacks showcased the largest proportion in Added sugar, unlike Sodium and Saturated fat. Lunch had fair shares; it was second overall in Sodium and Saturated fat. Breakfast remained almost unchanged at 16% in Added sugar and Saturated fat, and had a decline of 2% in the Sodium category.
