The charts present the levels of education in a Scottish city in 2010. The bar charts group the data by age, while the pie charts group the data by gender.
Overall, the majority of young people have a University degree, while most of the older people have no educational qualification. At the same time, more men than women have a university degree and there are more unqualified women than men.
Around 70% of people aged between 16 and 50 years old have a university degree, but as the age rises this percentage drops dramatically, reaching the 25% in the over 75 years age group. On the other hand, the percentage of people with no educational background rose significantly as the age group gets older. Specifically, 9% of people between 16 and 50 are unqualified, with this percentage reaching its peak value at 72% in the age group above 75 years old.
While the same 33% of men and women have a school certificate, there are 3% more men than women with a university degree, regardless of age. Also, 38% of women are unqualified, a percentage that is 3% more than men where is 35%.
