The Bar chart illustrates the revenue brought in by Marvel and DC over a decade starting from 2012 to 2022.
From an overall perspective, both company’s income grew steadily over the ten-year period even though there were some shifts during the final years. Starting from 2012, DC led up until 2016, when the two companies had equal proceeds. In the time period following 2016, however, Marvel overtook DC as the leader, and reached its peak in 2020. Following the same period, DC dropped slightly for the next year, but finally resurged as the top earner and reached the peak in 2022.
In the time period leading up to 2016, DC made notable progress over Marvel, bringing in about 1.5 billion USD and slightly over 2 billion USD in 2012 and 2014. In contrast, Marvel gained dramatically less income over the same timeframe in comparison to its competitor’s earnings. In 2016, both companies brought in the same proceeds. In 2020, Marvel reached the peak at 4 billion USD, whereas DC earned 25% less, after recovering from a drop two years previously. Ultimately, DC was able to overcome Marvel two years later, the former finishing up at 4 billion USD as the latter fell to 3.5 billion USD.
