The given table shows the percentage of consumer spending on different categories in five countries, namely Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in the year 2002.
Overall, it can be observed that people in all countries spent the largest share of money on Food, Drinks and Tobacco. In contrast, Clothing/Footwear and Leisure/Education had noticeably lower figures, especially the last category.
Looking first at Food/Drinks/Tobacco, Turkey recorded the highest proportion at 32.14%. Ireland followed this trend with 28.91%. Meanwhile, Spain, Italy and Sweden spent considerably less, accounting for 18.80%, 16.36% and 15.72% respectively.
In terms of Clothing and Footwear, Ireland showed the highest percentage, reaching 9.00% in 2002. Spain ranked next with 6.51%. Other countries such as Turkey, Italy and Sweden had similar but slightly lower numbers, at around 6.63%, 6.43% and 5.40%.
Leisure and Education was the least popular type of spending in all five nations. Turkey still remained the highest in this category with 4.35%, followed by Sweden at 3.22%. Italy, Ireland and Spain had the lowest proportions, with figures just above or below 3% by 2002.
