The chart illustrates information regarding the use of electronic appliances in a single country over a 20-year period, from 2000 to 2020. Overall, the ownership of all three appliances increased over the period, smartphones rose massively. In contrast, washing machines had a slight increase while desktop computers experienced fluctuation.
In 2000, washing machines were certainly popular comparing to smartphones, with ownership at 70% and 5%, respectively. Within ten year gap, smartphones popularity increased significantly from 5% to 45% whereas washing machines rose a mere 2% to reach 72%.
In comparison to desktop computer, which in the 2000 has a medium overall popularity out of the other three devices. In 2010, the number increased significantly from 30% to 55%, before it finally declined in 2020. It peaked at 55% before falling to 40%.
In conclusion, washing machines were the most popular electronic and smartphones were the least at the beginning. Surprisingly, smartphones gained it’s popularity and overtook washing machines over 20-year period reaching 95%
