Dear Mr. Smith,

I am just writing to let you know that for the past seven days I was late for work due to unavoidable problems at home.

My old parents were infected with influensa viral flu for the last ten days. Since they are old, the impact was severed and they had to admit to the hospital for treatment. Since my two siblings live abroad, I had to look after my parents by myself alone. They had to stay in the hospital for five days until they get recover. During that time, I hired a care taker for the daytime and at night and in the morning, I had to stay with my parents until that person came. As result, I was unable to come to the office on time.

I apologise for the late notice and any work I have missed during that time by my side.

I am glad that now my parents have completely recovered. I assure you that I will be able to come to work on time without getting further delays.
