The bar chart compares data regarding the contribution rate of two industries ( IT and service) to GDP of the UK from 1992 to 2000.
Overall, while the IT industry represented a higher increase over the period compared to the service industry. The greatest difference between two sectors was recorded in 2000, in when the IT industry reached a peak.
The IT industry amounted to over 6% of GDP in 1992, which was almost 2% higher than the service industry in the same year. Although the IT industry witnessed a small drop in between 1994 and 1996, the sector substantially climbed from around 8% to 12% in 1998. Meanwhile, the service industry slightly rose from almost 6% to 8%.
In 2000, the IT industry experienced a marked rise with around 15%, followed by the service industry which represented almost half as much as the IT industry with roughly 8%. Despite a slow increase from 1994 to 1998, the service industry doubled the figures which were reported in 1992.
