The bar graph shows the percentage of academic staff, by gender, in different departments of University of Britain in the year 2012. The data shows difference of gender ratio by departments. The percentage of female is higher in three departments(arts, education, and medicine), and that of male is higher in four departments(business, engineering, law, and science).
It is interesting that most of the academic staffs in engineering department are male while females are majority in education department. To be specific, the percentage of male is more than four times compared to that of female in engineering department while the percentage of female is almost three times compared to that of male in education department. In addition, thhe percentages of male are almost twice as those of female in business and science department.
In contrary, the percentage of genders are almost same in medicine department. And the gender ratio of art looks similar compared to the other departments except to medicine department.
