The two maps illustrate the current layout of an industrial area in Norbiton and its proposed future development.
At present, the site, located to the east of the town and south of a river running beside farmland, mainly consists of factories. A central roundabout connects to a short road, around which these factories are situated, while the main road runs from south to north.
According to the future plan, this industrial area will be transformed into a residential neighborhood. All existing factories will be removed and replaced with housing developments. The current roundabout will be connected to a second, smaller roundabout to the south, providing access to the town. New housing will be built to the west, east, and north of the main roundabout.
Public facilities will also be added: shops to the southwest, a medical center to the southeast, a school at the end of the eastern road, and a playground in the northeast. A new road will be constructed to the north, crossing the river and leading to additional houses, partially replacing the farmland.
In summary, the planned changes will completely convert the industrial zone into a residential area with improved infrastructure and facilities.
